Evaluations

As children and adolescents continue to grow and mature, it is completely normal to have shifts in their behaviors, mood and thinking, however, we understand that for families, it may be difficult to know when a change reflects normal development or signs/symptoms of something more significant. Our mental health clinicians will conduct a comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessment to gather information about the child/adolescents’ current problem or concern.  Evaluations will consist of a combination of clinical observations, questionnaires and if, applicable, parent interviews.

Evaluations can also be done for adults seeking treatment for their own self-care.

treatment

Treatment recommendations will be made based on current problems, history, level of development, ability to participate in treatment, and what interventions are most likely to help with the presenting concerns. Goals for therapy may be specific (change in behavior, improved relations with friends or family), or more general (less anxiety, better self-esteem). The length of therapy depends on the complexity and severity of problems. Our highly skilled mental health clinicians are trained and certified in a variety of treatment approaches and modalities including, but not limiting to:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Mindfulness
  • Play Therapy
  • Trauma Informed Therapy
  • Family Systems Therapy
  • Attachment-Based Therapy
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
